The other day I received a short email from a parent that had seen my performance at an event. “I would like to thank you and let you know when you came to our church, after watching your show and listening to you, my daughter gave her life to Christ. That was the happiest day of my life and I wanted to share this with you.” Performing in different churches all the time, I often don’t see the fruit that is born from what I do. I have prayed with umpteen people over the years, but not being involved with the followup, I don’t usuallyRead More →

About a week ago I performed at Winterfest in the Vines center at Liberty University (beautiful christian college in the hills). My show was between some different bands/performers. It started with a local rapper, Jamie Grace, Royal Tailor then I headed out for a 25 minute show before Kutless and Toby Mac finished off the night. You never know what will happen when you travel, this trip I had a fun case of mistaken identity. After I finished up my set I headed back to the food room to get something to eat. I sat down and started chatting with a couple of folks whenRead More →

This past summer saw me sitting around home (figuratively of course as I’m way too hyper to just sit around and I love to work out…disc golf, jump rope, unicycle, scuba diving, etc.). This was quite strange for me as I rarely have any time off and I was a little bummed by my lack of shows. I spent a fair amount of time in prayer as I wandered the parks with my dog and as it turns out, God had a reason for the down time. I’m excited to share what that is with you. I’m finally home from a 6-week overseas trip. I spent 2 weeks in Australia (which included a bit of downtime as Alicia and I went scuba diving on the Barrier Reef), then finished off with a 4 week, whirl-wind tour of New Zealand. Jokingly, at the end of the trip, it was dubbed the natural disaster tour since we ran into quite a few natural issues. There was an earthquake in Christchurch that leveled quite a few buildings, there was flooding in Wellington and a snowstorm in Invercargil. Needless to say, it was quite an adventure and I can’t wait to go back and doRead More →

I’m just about to start my second week of performing in New Zealand. The first week was filled with 9 schools from Auckland to Taupo with stops in Hamilton, Tauranga and Rotorua. During the tour we try to stop and do some unique stuff that you don’t normally get the chance to do at home. Yesterday, we had the day off in Napier and I decided to scuba dive and feed the sharks at the aquarium here. It was quite an experience! They had 21 or so sharks, 3 rays and a bunch of various types of fish. Alicia decided that she would take aRead More →

I have been back in the states for about a week now since I finished a 3 week trip to Kenya. I had a great time and really look forward to going back someday soon. On that note…I want to sell you an idea, service means everything. Now I know there are a lot of loopholes in that if you want to make it your life philosophy, but I was sold on this due to an interesting week I had in Nairobi. **Quick side note: This philosophy reminds me of a worship leader that once told me that reverb covers over a lot of sins,Read More →

Last Sunday I performed at 2 Jewish events for the celebration of Purim. In case you are unaware of what this festival is about, it is the celebration of Esther saving the Jews from annihilation by the hand of Haman. It was a lot of fun to hang out with a couple Rabbis and a host of dressed up (like Halloween) Jewish families. I still haven’t figured out what the significance of dressing up was for, but it was fun, nonetheless. Actually, my favorite part was when the Rabbi got up and said that tonight we are going to have a good time, and tonight,Read More →

At the end of August, I did something I haven’t done in 13 years…I competed in a rope skipping tournament. The funny thing about it was that I had no intention of competing as close as 2 days before it started. Plus, I was an American in Australia so I didn’t really qualify to be in the tournament as it was the Australian Nationals. The day before the tournament started I was asked by the President of Skipping Australia if I would be willing to help a team out who had just got in and had one kid with a stress fracture and another withRead More →

I got an email yesterday from a Christian company that was trying to get me to buy an ad in one of their magazines. I quickly read through it and couldn’t help but laugh. They were talking about changing the layout size and said that by doing so they were doing their share to go “Green” to help out the environment. The way I read it made it sound on par with some company deciding that the earth movement was popular enough that today they had started throwing away their trash, no longer would it litter the streets and I should buy from them becauseRead More →

This morning after I finished up my 8 mile unicycle ride and 45 minutes of weight lifting, I decided to go play a round of disc golf and give my dog a chance to stretch her legs. I’ve been working on changing my throwing technique so I usually throw 3-4 discs per hole just to get some extra practice in. On the 5th hole, I threw out 3 discs and started walking toward them to continue on toward the hole. At the same time I saw a mom with her 5 kids out for an early morning walk at the park. One of the littleRead More →
