I’m finally home from a 6-week overseas trip. I spent 2 weeks in Australia (which included a bit of downtime as Alicia and I went scuba diving on the Barrier Reef), then finished off with a 4 week, whirl-wind tour of New Zealand. Jokingly, at the end of the trip, it was dubbed the natural disaster tour since we ran into quite a few natural issues. There was an earthquake in Christchurch that leveled quite a few buildings, there was flooding in Wellington and a snowstorm in Invercargil. Needless to say, it was quite an adventure and I can’t wait to go back and doRead More →

I’m just about to start my second week of performing in New Zealand. The first week was filled with 9 schools from Auckland to Taupo with stops in Hamilton, Tauranga and Rotorua. During the tour we try to stop and do some unique stuff that you don’t normally get the chance to do at home. Yesterday, we had the day off in Napier and I decided to scuba dive and feed the sharks at the aquarium here. It was quite an experience! They had 21 or so sharks, 3 rays and a bunch of various types of fish. Alicia decided that she would take aRead More →

I have been back in the states for about a week now since I finished a 3 week trip to Kenya. I had a great time and really look forward to going back someday soon. On that note…I want to sell you an idea, service means everything. Now I know there are a lot of loopholes in that if you want to make it your life philosophy, but I was sold on this due to an interesting week I had in Nairobi. **Quick side note: This philosophy reminds me of a worship leader that once told me that reverb covers over a lot of sins,Read More →

At the end of August, I did something I haven’t done in 13 years…I competed in a rope skipping tournament. The funny thing about it was that I had no intention of competing as close as 2 days before it started. Plus, I was an American in Australia so I didn’t really qualify to be in the tournament as it was the Australian Nationals. The day before the tournament started I was asked by the President of Skipping Australia if I would be willing to help a team out who had just got in and had one kid with a stress fracture and another withRead More →

The past couple days have been spent doing something that I’m not very good at doing…nothing. Alicia and I were trying to figure out where to go for the weekend when she came across a private campground that offered us a free weekend if we went through a short sales pitch. We decided why not and spent the weekend in Gettysburg, PA. While Alicia was talking to the place on the phone, they were describing everything they had and she was rattling off item after item. To be honest, I wasn’t really paying attention since I was driving and I’m not very good at doingRead More →

Here’s the deal, I don’t like paying tolls. I’m sure there are many people out there like me who feel that you should be able to get around a city or across a bridge without taking out a second mortgage. Wookiee has a very different sentiment, she loves them. In fact, out of all things that we do in the truck, tolls have to be right up there with the best of them. The reason, I see them as a negative, she expects them to be a positive experience. Her reasoning comes from the fact that quite a few toll booths lately have noticed herRead More →

I love hate New York City. From the people that I’ve talked with over the years, you either love it or hate it. Nobody seems content to be ‘ok’ with it. To help you understand why I’m so put off by it, let me give you a run through of just 2 days that I had over the last week. I got up at 4 AM and dropped Alicia off at JFK. This was probably the only time I’ve ever seen ‘little’ traffic on the side streets. I would have preferred to take the parkway, but I’m not allowed. My truck is too big andRead More →
